Are you into fishing and want to know about one of the best rivers in Arkansas? In this episode of Naturally NWA, I’m going to show you the White River, one of my favorite places to get away for the weekend and do some fishing. I’m going to talk with White River Nation’s Jesse Brison to share a local guide’s advice for landing the best catch.

The White River

The White River is close to Cotter, Arkansas, which is about 2.5 hours east of Fayetteville. Cotter is known as the trout fishing capital of the world. When I come here to fish, I prefer catching over fishing. To get the latest info on where the fish are biting best, I always give my buddy Jesse Brison a call.

Jesse has been a guide on the White River on and off since he was about 16 years old, making it his primary career for the past 11 years. Unlike a lot of the guides that you could hire out here, Jesse’s a local boy. He estimates that only about 60% of the area’s guides are local.

Out on the river, there are many different techniques and ways to do things. What sets Jesse apart from everyone else is that 90% of the time they’re typically only throwing jerk baits and chasing bigger fish. While there are a lot of different ways to chase bigger fish, high water is their favorite method. It’s certified perfect.

Booking A Trip

Jesse loves to chase big fish, making his job as a guide on the White River his ideal occupation. He loves to show people the ropes and help them bag their own big fish. For those that want to book a tour, you can simply visit White River Nation’s Facebook page or give Jesse a call at (870) 706-7316.

I always have fun cruising on the White River, and having Jesse as my guide made it that much better. So if you want more information, make sure to reach or to Jesse or me and I’ll help you track him down. Make sure to stay tuned to the next episode of Naturally NWA to see more of our beautiful area in Northwest Arkansas.
